Managing Unexcused Absence Flags

Prev Next

1. What It Is

This feature automatically flags any employee who exceeds the number of unexcused absences allowed within a six-month period, as defined in your MaidCentral settings. The flag is generated based on the configuration under:

Company > General > Employee Schedule Settings > Allowed Unexcused in 6 Months

This flag is a signal for review and often used to determine whether an employee should be considered for termination.

2. Why It Matters

Keeping accurate attendance records ensures consistency, accountability, and fairness in managing your workforce. These flags serve several purposes:

  • Enforces attendance policies automatically

  • Supports performance management with a clear metric

  • Simplifies HR decisions by surfacing patterns of behavior

  • Improves record-keeping for documentation of employment decisions

3. How To Do It

To remove or resolve an unexcused absence flag, you have three options:

✅ Option 1: Update the Attendance Code

  1. Go to the Employee Profile > Attendance tab.

  2. Find the flagged day (highlighted in red).

  3. Double-click on the day.

  4. Change the out-code from "Unexcused" to "Excused" or another applicable code.

  5. Save your changes.

Best if the absence was actually excused but incorrectly coded.

✅ Option 2: Change the Policy Threshold

  1. Navigate to Company > General > Employee Schedule Settings.

  2. Locate the setting labeled Allowed Unexcused in 6 Months.

  3. Increase the allowed number, or set it to 0 to disable this flag entirely.

⚠️ Increasing the limit applies to all employees and may reduce accountability if overused.

✅ Option 3: Leave the Flag and Document Resolution

  1. Leave the flag in place.

  2. In the Employee Profile, add a note documenting the reason the flag is not actionable.

  3. No further steps are required — the flag will fall off automatically after six months.

📝 Flags are time-bound and only apply to the previous six months.

Important Note:
Setting Allowed Unexcused in 6 Months to 0 will disable these flags entirely without affecting other settings.
