Errors Entering New Credit Card Information: May 2024 Resolution

This article concerns the issue that were reported regarding credit card input forms and the current resolutions.

Overview:

This issue is specific to Users who utilize Authorize.net within MaidCentral. When attempting to add new Credit Card information to an Authorize.net account through MaidCentral, an “AVS” error may occur.   AVS or ‘address verification system’ is a standard verification method used by Authorize.net. It compares billing information such as address or zip code with the billing information that the card has on file to ensure safe transactions.   More information about AVS can be found here .

Resolution:

To resolve this issue, there are 2 options that I will outline below. Only 1 of the 2 resolutions will need to be implemented, Please choose which one best suits your needs, and if you need help at any stage, please do not hesitate to open a ticket with our support team.

Resolution 1 - Less Required Info, Less Verification

Within your specific authorize.net account, you can configure the AVS filter settings in the merchant interface to specify when a transaction should be rejected based on the results of the AVS match.   To reach your AVS Settings in Authorize.net, follow this path: Home > Account > Settings > Security Settings > Fraud Settings > Address Verification Service (AVS)   You must set the zip code and the address filter to ALLOW. With these filters off, the system will correctly add the card to the profile. Turning these off will NOT prevent cards from being checked. Cards always have the address and zip code checked when they are run for payment.

Resolution 2 - More Required Info, More Verification

On April 30th, 2024 we pushed out a new feature within the Authorize Settings found under your Company > General > Integrations. Following this update, under your Authorize.net API settings, there will be 2 new checkboxes that will allow you to enable the full billing form, submitting the address and zip code to register through the AVS system.  These checkboxes are:

Display Billing Address Form

Require Billing Address form

Below is a picture of what the full form will look like. It is important to note: if you do not turn off the AVS settings, you will need to fill out the full form when a new card is added to the system, but you will not need to fill out this information every time the card is processed.
